Benefits of pre- and post-natal Pilates

The more active and fit you are during pregnancy, the easier it will be for you to adapt to your changing shape and weight gain. There is evidence that active women are less likely to experience problems in later pregnancy and labour. NHS (i)

  • Strengthens deep tissue and muscle stabilisers

  • Pilates is low-impact, and which is perfect for all trimesters

  • Control required to perform exercise means that over-stretching of ligaments and joints is avoided

  • Helps to encourage better pelvic floor engagement

  • Promotes better breathing

  • Pilates helps to accelerate recovery after birth and can help rectify diastasis recti (separation of the rectus abdominus), which is common in post-partum women.
